Reinventing Wine Wednesday
About six years ago in 2014, I got a phone call from my friend, Lisa, asking if I had a bottle of wine so she could come over for a glass. Of course, I had wine, but it was 11:00 am on Wednesday, and we both had jobs – she worked at an office, and I worked from home. When I reminded her of this, she replied, “Yes, I know. What do you want for lunch? I’ll be there in thirty minutes.”
Two hours and one bottle of wine later, Lisa and I confidently decided we could solve all the world’s problems every Wednesday – as long as we had wine. So, we invited Sheryl to join us for the following Wednesday, and Wine Wednesday was born! For the next two years, our elite Wine Wednesday club met in the middle of the week, every week, to discuss jobs, family and solve world problems.
It didn’t take long before Lisa, Sage of Wine Wednesday Wisdom, suggested we use Zoom and open up this elite problem-solving club to virtual masses. With so many people adjusting to the work-from-home edict, the sudden instability of employment and emotional upheaval, we knew a captivated audience awaited. Based on past experience with ESIRT, the former Wine Wednesday meetings and current virtual networking events, we decided that we could guide an audience with topics that needed solutions and provide, through discussion, actionable items that attendees can implement immediately to move forward in business within our new environment.
